Ickes, Kirk pull out of the race for Democratic chair
WASHINGTON Former Clinton aide Harold Ickes (ICKS) and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk are taking themselves out of the running for chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
Kirk wrote a letter to D-N-C members today saying he was endorsing fellow Texan Martin Frost, a former congressman.
Ickes is a longtime Democratic activist.
Others who have indicated interest include former Michigan Governor Jim Blanchard, former presidential candidate Howard Dean and former Colorado Governor Roy Romer.
Democrats will elect a chairman at the party’s winter meeting in February.
