It’s incredible that legislation like this comes up, and that it’s passed with a 93 to 4 vote. Virginia lawmakers weren’t happy that a law is on the books stating that if a student has religious or moral convictions that cause them to not stand and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag in school, so they are proposing a law that requires schools to notify parents if their child refuses. The one part of the bill that was stripped out was to require parental consent for the child to object.
